Our study revealed the importance of studying the country-level quantity of cigarette use, particularly, among smokers as well as prevalence, as these measures were found to be unrelated. We also found that some childhood factors (e.g., religious service attendance) predicted adult smoking better among smokers than in the general population.

The Question:
Do demographic variations and childhood predictors of daily cigarette smoking differ between smokers and the general population?
